Film Poster & Trailer Analysis of Captain America Civil War

Central Image- The main characters in the film are shown on either side of the poster: Captain America and Iron Man. This is useful as it will immediately attract the audience who are fond of these characters so therefore would be interested in the movie itself.
Secondary Image/Background- The recognizable shield which belongs to Captain America is shown enlarged in the background allowing a clear vision of it. In addition, the other characters are shown lined alongside either Captain or Iron man.
Title/Tagline/Institution- The title is in a bold capital font in the center middle of the poster. 'Civil War' appearing as rustic steel which flows well with the theme of the poster with the words 'Captain America' in smaller font inside it. Doing this straight away tells the audience what the film is and who it is mainly based around hence the use of the main characters name in the Title. Above the title the institutional logo of 'Marvel' can be seen which will help gather an audience who have enjoyed films from them before. Near the bottom the tagline is seen: 'United We Stand. Divided We Fall' using two short phrases which help get an understanding of the movie as well as keeping it a secret for the audience.
Billing Box/Release Date/Website details- Both are seen at the bottom of the poster, the release date in bold capitals allowing a clear view of it. The website is near the other institutional logo on the bottom left 'facbook.com/CaptainAmerica'
Iconography- Firstly, the use of two actors who are well known for starring in several other marvel/action movies Chris Evans and Robert Downey JR is a huge way to draw the audience in as it can already be noticed as an action movie. To add on, the title gives away the fact there would be some sort of conflict 'Civil War' alongside the central image being two mainstream superheroes who are glaring at each other which could indicate tension. The whole poster has a metal, rustic feel to it giving off a very modernized yet adventurous look.
In my opinion I think the poster was a success as it shows the characters who will be in the movie as well as actors, giving off the genre easily and making it seem exciting in general.

There's a clear layout and opening to the trailer, it starts off with someone narrating and then shows the institutional logo 'Marvel'. It then follows by introducing some of the main characters including dialogue between them. During the middle end an event occurs with sound that communicates the genre of action, also displaying the release date. A series of fast cuts occur during the fighting/action scenes and the music intensifies during the fight but then cuts off at the end displaying the title of the movie. There's a mini clip introducing a final character and then showing social media, release date and so forth. This movie did not include the name of the people starring which could mean that they are already well known which they are. Chris Evans and Robert Downey JR are known for starring in marvel based movies which may suggest the audience is already fond to them.
